Return Policy
Full-Priced items
All full-priced merchandise must be received within 14 days from receipt of delivery for a refund. Merchandise received past 14 days but prior to 30 days from receipt of delivery will be given store credit. No merchandise will be accepted for return past 30 days from receipt of delivery.
Sale items
Merchandise which has been marked down by less than 40% must be received within 14 days from receipt of delivery for a refund. No sale merchandise will be accepted for return past 14 days from receipt of delivery.
Merchandise which has been marked down by 40% or more is a final sale and may not be exchanged or returned. This applies to merchandise purchased with a coupon code that gives a discount of 40% or more.
General
Returns must be new and in unworn, undamaged condition with all tags attached. Please do not try clothing on while wearing make-up as this can damage the item. If an item arrives damaged, contact must be made within 3 days of receipt. Standard Deviation reserves the right to refuse returns which do not meet our return policy criteria.
All returns and exchanges postmarked after August 20, 2008 must include a Return Authorization Number (RAN) printed on the shipping label. To obtain a RAN, please email us at returns@standarddeviationny.com with the order number and item(s) you are returning. RANs must be requested within 7 days of your receipt of the item.
We are not responsible for shipping costs on returns. Insurance is highly recommended as we can not be held responsible for packages we do not ship ourselves. Please package your return securely and send it to the following address:

PLEASE NOTE: All returns without a RAN printed on the shipping label will be refused and sent back to you at your cost.
You will be notified by email as soon as your refund has been processed. Please allow up to 7 days from our receipt of the package for the refund to be processed.
Exchanges
If you need to exchange an item, please contact us and we will set the desired item aside until we receive your return and can ship it to you. Only items which are equal to or less than the value of the items being returned can be processed as an exchange. Store credit will be issued for all exchanges which exceed the original value of the items being returned.
Price Adjustments
If an item is marked down within 7 days of the purchase date, a price adjustment will be granted upon request. This policy does not extend to promotional codes or offers, nor to items which are marked as a final sale.
Shipping
Domestic
*All orders placed within the 48 contiguous United States that total $150 or more are eligible for free UPS ground shipping. We reserve the right to discontinue this offer at any time. UPS is our standard shipping provider for domestic orders. We also offer USPS Express Mail for domestic orders and P.O. boxes. We do not currently ship to APO/FPO addresses. A signature is required on all shipments totaling $500 or more.
International
All international orders are shipped via USPS Express Mail International. We charge a flat rate of $25 to Canada and a flat rate of $30 to all other countries. These shipping charges do not include any customs fees you may be assessed. If you are not familiar with the customs fees in your country, please check with your local customs office for more information.
If you refuse a package, it will be returned to Standard Deviation and you will be responsible for the original shipping charges, any customs fees incurred on the package, and the cost of returning the package. All refused packages will have the relevant shipping charges and fees incurred on the package deducted from the refund.

Declined Transactions
If your order is declined for security reasons (incorrect billing address or security code [CCV]), your credit card will not be charged -- but your card issuer will place a pre-authorization hold on the funds in your account.
A hold is placed in response to each order submission placed by the customer (by clicking the "Submit Order" button on a website). If you repeatedly click the "Submit Order" button in an attempt to get a declined order to be accepted, it will result in multiple holds being placed on the funds in your account by your card issuer.
A hold is not the same thing as a charge. Standard Deviation is not the one who places the hold and we do not charge your card multiple times for one order.
We do not have control over the period of time in which your card issuer keeps the hold on your account and we cannot request that they release a hold; it will be released automatically in accordance with the policies of your card issuer.
If your order is declined, please be sure to verify your billing address as it appears on your credit card statement and/or the security code on your card before attempting any additional transactions.
Order Processing
Pending availability and credit verification, we strive to ship all orders within one business day of being placed, however it may occasionally take longer. You will receive notification from UPS to the email address provided when your order is shipped.
Sales Tax
Sales tax is applied to orders shipped to addresses in New York state.
Privacy Policy
Standard Deviation protects your privacy. All personal information submitted is used to process your order or to contact you regarding a transaction. This information is gathered securely through the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) and will not be disclosed to third parties. SSL encrypts your order information and sends it to a secure server, making it impossible for that information to be decoded by anyone outside of Standard Deviation.
With your permission, we may use your contact information to contact you with site news or promotions. If you do not wish to receive such communications, you may unsubscribe from our mailing list.
